Meet at Souther Cross Garden Bar | Wellington | Wellington/ Wairarapa
The afternoon starts with an architectural tour where we will be meeting outside the Southern Cross Bar and from there we will be walking up to the Sunset West Apartments located around the corner.
Sunset West Apartments was designed for Nightingale Land Investments with construction expected to commence in 2019. The client was looking for a revolutionary apartment building comprising of sophisticated, functional one-bedroom apartments that complimented the lifestyles of urban-dwellers. The final design allows for seamless integration of bedroom and living space, extending outwards onto private balconies. A large sliding ‘wall’ provides valuable privacy when required and transforms the apartment interior into a cosy oasis when partially or fully closed. Please note that this part of the tour will require closed shoes, a hi-vis and a hard hat as it will be on a construction site with some provided but it might pay to bring your own if you have any at hand.
From there we will be walking over to the Garage Project Brewery on Aro Street for tasters and have nibbles and a presentation of the beers. The Garage Project brewery was founded in 2011 by brothers Ian and Pete Gillespie and Jos Ruffell and aim is to create unique and beautiful beers, to push boundaries, reinterpret styles and challenge the notions of what beer can be. To date the brewery has created over 300 different beers.
Many of you will remember Kris Ericksen who administered the ADNZ CPD programme for five and a half years from 2012. He is now creating art lights, and is now represented at the Potocki Paterson Art Gallery in Wellington. His Kunstskærme Art Screens are going to be distributed in the USA by WakaNINE (who also represent David Trubridge). Kris will demonstrate the flexibility of his Plato Design system and how you are only limited by your imagination. Check out some of Kris’s designs at www.plato.design. Dylan, from the Potocki Paterson Art Gallery will briefly talk about the art on display and some of the other artists he represents.
From there we will continue to the Southern Cross Garden bar where we have booked the Tree Hut. This is a cosy, outdoor covered corner area in of the garden bar. It is a relaxed setting where we will reflect on the tour over a Grazed Table Menu and have a few quite drinks into the night.
The itinerary for the evening is as follows:
