Defign magazine, Architectural Designers New Zealand’s (ADNZ’s) annual publication, is into its 9th year and is now available on shelves around New Zealand.
The latest edition of Defign magazine is an exploration into the back story of some of the inspirational and award-winning designs entered in the 2021 ADNZ Resene Architectural Design Awards, as well as a deep dive into some of the interesting spaces we’ve always wanted to take a peek into, and the annual ‘Defign Reads’ where we shine the spotlight on some of the best pieces of architectural literature of the year.
From the incredible ‘Mt Isthmus Lodge’ project by Tony Butel of Ground Up Studio, a sculptural lodge perched on a rugged rural site, to the unforgettable ‘Christchurch Style Revival’ by Greg Young and Andy McLeod of Young Architects, which is a celebration of the quintessential mid-century modernism style, Issue 9 takes readers on a journey through some of the best displays of architecture New Zealand has to offer.
Taking center stage on this year’s cover is the striking ‘S & P House’ by Noel Jessop of Noel Jessop Architecture. With its mix of vertical cedar juxtaposed against black aluminum ‘scales’, we delve into how this iconic project took shape and what life looks like for owners Noel and Kelly.
The perfect read for any architectural enthusiast on the long summer days ahead, keep an eye out at your local supermarket, service stations, and newsagents to get your hands on the latest edition.
