Designing in detail for Homestar

As interest in healthier, more efficient, and environmentally friendly homes increases, the New Zealand Green Building Council is launching its first Homestar Design Guide to support the industry to deliver on the latest version of Homestar – version 5.

Created with the support of Respond Architects, BRANZ, NZIA, and ADNZ, the design guide encourages starting with performance and sustainability in mind and works to get into the detail of how to tackle issues like moisture control, embodied carbon, and indoor air quality.

Learning outcomes:

• Understanding the drivers for the higher targets under Homestar v5
• Industry leading tools for the modelling of energy and carbon including ECCHO (Energy and Carbon Calculator for Homes), and HECC (Homestar Embodied Carbon Calculator)
• Understanding application across four case studies of varying typologies
