The dwelling is formed by 3 terraced linear boxes that produce intimate courtyards that are protected from the prevailing lake breeze and maximise the southern view of the lake from the living/bedroom areas. The positioning of the spaces enables the guest wing to be closed off when not required with concealed cavity sliders. The natural slope of the site creates a double height living space where clerestory windows capture the north-west sunlight which pools in the living areas. Urban design principles were used to ensure the double height living areas did not impede the neighbours views of the Dunstan mountain range and to ensure the street had a view shaft to the lake, so the street continued to have connection to the lake.
