A split level bach spliced into the hillside in Titahi Bay. With a collaborative approach RAD took the client's vision and worked with the client to complete the finished design. Careful consideration was expressed by the client to not interrupt the view from the neighbours out to the ocean and a need to use robust materials sympathetic with the surrounding rugged landscape and exposed site. Through the 3D software we confirmed the roof slopes and height of the building to follow the form of the site and reduce its visual impact to the steep slope of the cliff that drops off to Rocky Bay below. The external claddings are Hermpac vertical cedar weatherboards and Metalcraft MC700 vertical metal cladding and roofing.
