Project Description

Béton brut is a French term that translates in English to “raw concrete”. The term is used to describe concrete that is left unfinished after being cast, displaying the patterns and seams imprinted on it by the formwork. Béton brut is not a material itself, but rather an architectural expression of concrete. Concrete was a necessity on this project, and we chose to embrace it, expressing its naked beauty, rather than letting it appear brutal. Simplicity of design form. Expression of design planes. Honesty of design materials. These were the focus aesthetically, while reorganizing the spaces to suit the family was the focus functionally.
