Profile

Julian started his work career in Ashburton in 1995 and went on to establish his own practice, O’Sullivan Design, in 1997. In the year 2000 Julian rebranded the business and co-founded Blueprint Architectural Services Ltd where he worked between the years of 2000 – 2009. In 2010 Julian was recruited by WSP Architects (formerly Opus Architecture) to develop their architecture offering in Dunedin where he served for 3 years prior to being relocated to Christchurch and promoted to the role as the Southern Regions Studio Director until the end of 2021. Julian worked with Matt Sloper between 2010 – 2021 and now joins him, David Chilton and Garry Mayne as a Director of Studio 4 Architects Ltd.

Julian’s work history displays a myriad of differing commissions, and his diverse project background enables him to easily transition from one sector to another and to apply a wider scope of thought to the design and delivery process. Julian has a wealth of experience within the residential, industrial, commercial, government and private sectors, and his holistic architectural approach allows him to think freely to add value to the clients’ experience.

Julian is a multi-award winning highly experienced and qualified Architectural Designer with strong organisational skills and a proven history of project delivery based on almost 30 years of industry experience. Julian holds a National Diploma in Architecture Technology, is a Licensed Building Practitioner – Design 3, a Professional Member of the Architectural Designers of New Zealand as well an Affiliate Member of New Zealand Institute of Architects.
